Aggravated Child Abuse Arrests
(Etowah County, Alabama) An Attalla couple has been arrested for aggravated child abuse, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
"Jed Allen Jacobs, 30, and Martha Renea Davenport, 25, both of Attalla, were arrested and are each charged with aggravated child abuse, which is a felony,” investigator VaShaunda Ragland said.
Aggravated child abuse is defined as torturing, willfully abusing, cruelly beating or otherwise maltreating a child under the age of 18, on more than one occasion.
The abuse allegedly happened on several occasions dating back to February 2016.
Jacobs and Davenport were each booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on $25,000 bond. As a condition of the bond, each will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and shall have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18, including the victim.
The victim is now in a safety plan with a family member.
