Run, Hide, Fight
A new safety tool titled, “Run, Hide, Fight” is being taught by the Etowah County Sheriff's Office. The techniques taught would be used in case of an active shooter inside a building or at a public event.
According to the Alabama Department of Homeland Security website when making a decision during an active shooter incident, individuals will generally have three options:
Run: Can you safely escape?
Hide: Is there a good place to hide?
Fight: Will you take out the shooter?”
“We are pleased to offer this training to schools, businesses, churches, civic organizations and the general public,” says Sheriff Todd Entrekin. “This class is just a small portion of our comprehensive plan in helping ensure that our community is safe.”
Since January 2013 all sheriffs’ office deputies have participated in specialized active shooter training and outfitted with specific equipment, safety and seminars have been conducted for businesses, schools, churches and healthcare facilities.
If you would like to schedule or register for a Run, Hide, Fight class please contact the Etowah County Sheriff's Office at 256-546-2825 or email email@example.com
