Drug Arrest

Wednesday February 28, 2024

(Etowah County, Alabama) Three individuals have been arrested with drug charges in Etowah County, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton. 

Conner Ryan Johnson (20) of Jonesboro, Georgia, Joe Howard Bennet (22) of Ackworth, Georgia, and Immanual Kendel Adams (20) of Fairburn, Georgia all have been charged with one count of Trafficking Fentanyl, one count of Trafficking Heroin, one count of Trafficking in Illegal Drugs (Ectasy), and one count of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana First.    

On February 25, 2024 Lieutenant Jason Patty with the Southside Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a Silver Mercedes occupied with three individuals traveling North bound on Highway 77 near Green Valley Road after observing it driving at a high rate of speed.  During the course of the stop Captain Johnson notified K9 handler Sergeant Johnson who responded with his K9. Sergeant Johnson had K9 "Jager" perform an open air sniff of the vehicle in which it alerted.

During the search of the vehicle Officers recovered approximately 5.7 ounces of pressed Fentanyl pills, approximately 29 grams of Heroin, approximately 1.2 pounds of Ecstasy Pills, a quantity of Marijuana, and one Glock 23 .40 caliber pistol that had been modified to fire on automatic mode. 

Immanual Kendel Adams, Joe Howard Bennet, and Conner Ryan Johnson are being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $650,000.00 cash bond.

This is an ongoing investigation and more State and Federal Charges could be filed related to this case.

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Gadsden Police Department, Etowah County Sheriff's Office, Southside Police Department, Rainbow City Police Department, and the FBI North Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force participated in the case.
