DRUG ARREST

(Etowah County, Alabama) One individual has been arrested with drug charges in Etowah County, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton. 

ZACHERY CHANTZ VONBARTHELD (26) of Gadsden, Al is charged with Four (4) counts of Drug Trafficking (Methamphetamine), one (1) count of Trafficking Morphine, one (1) count of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), and one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

On February 15, 2023 Zachery Chantz Vonbartheld was arrested on warrants for drug related offenses.  Once in jail additional charges were filed from a ongoing investigation. During the course of the investigation The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit recovered over one (1) pound of Methamphetamine, a large quantity of Morphine Pills, and a quantity of Fentanyl. ZACHERY CHANTZ VONBARTHELD is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $270,000.00 cash bond and also a $2,500.00 Surety bond.

This investigation is still ongoing and additional state and federal charges could be filed related to this case.   

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Etowah County Sheriff's Office, Gadsden Police Department, the FBI North Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force participated in the case.
