Arrest Made in Storage Unit Burglaries

A Gadsden man has been arrested for burglary of storage buildings, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton.

Sheriff Deputies and Investigators were alerted to  break-ins at storage units on Appalachian Hwy in North Gadsden and, through surveillance footage, identified a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle was located and interviewed, additional digital evidence was reviewed. This evidence led authorities to question Jacob Kirkland, who admitted to being present at the storage facility on January 1, 2025.

During questioning, Mr. Kirkland confessed to breaking into two separate storage units, owned by different individuals. He provided investigators with information about the stolen property's location, which was found at a residence on Miller Street in the Walnut Park community. On January 21, 2025, investigators successfully recovered the majority of the stolen items.

Jacob Kirkland has been charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree and Theft in the 3rd Degree, according to Investigator Trent Green. Additional charges are expected to follow as the investigation continues and other victims are identified.
