DRUG ARREST

Thursday December 21, 2023

(Etowah County, Alabama)  One individual has been arrested with drug charges in Etowah County, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton. 

COREY DEJUAN GILLEY (32) of GADSDEN, Al is charged with Three (3) counts of Drug Trafficking (Methamphetamine), One count (1) of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, and One (1) count of Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement. 

On December 11, 2023 Agents with the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit attempted to make contact with Corey Dejuan Gilley at a service station in East Gadsden, Al.  Mr. Gilley fled in his vehicle and led Agents on a highspeed car chase throughout East Gadsden.  Mr. Gilley exited his vehicle while it was in motion and fled on foot.  Agents were able to apprehend him after a brief foot pursuit.  Agents were able to recover approximately an ounce of Methamphetamine/Ice that Mr. Gilley had thrown from the vehicle during the chase.  Corey Dejuan Gilley was arrested and is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $312,500.00 property bond.

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit had actively been investigating Mr. Gilley for Distributing large quantities of Methamphetamine in Etowah County. This investigation is still ongoing and there could be more State and Federal charges related to this case.     

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Etowah County Sheriff's Office, Gadsden Police Department, Rainbow City Police Department, Southside Police Department, the FBI North Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force participated in the case.
