Run, Hide, Fight

A new safety tool titled, "Run, Hide, Fight" is being taught by the Etowah County Sheriff's Office.  The techniques taught would be used in case of an active shooter inside a building or at a public event.

According to the Alabama Department of Homeland Security website when making a decision during an active shooter incident, individuals will generally have three options:

  1. Run: Can you safely escape?
  2. Hide: Is there a good place to hide?
  3. Fight: Will you take out the shooter?

Since January 2013 all sheriffs' office deputies have participated in specialized active shooter training and outfitted with specific equipment, safety and seminars have been conducted for businesses, schools, churches and healthcare facilities.

If you would like to schedule or register for a Run, Hide, Fight class please contact Josh Morgan at 256-546-2825 or jmorgan@etowahcounty.org
